Loving grace o! glorious light
That winter night to earth bestowed;
Sparks of love, divine insight
The frost on mounts to us restored.
In the chilly fields they were
Fending for their sheep and lives
When these shepherds in the air
Beheld the yearn of all their lives.
Then these three from Orient far
Could not but marvel at the sight
Of the brightest sign; a star
They followed so to David's height.
With gifts of praise and matter all
Shepherds, kings; nature alike
Came trading on the ancient fall
For Christ was born to all alike.
And so was it in Herod's day
That furies met to claim our rights
In His love o! come what may
Th King, our God brought just to light.
To that day has man recourse
When God as man for us was born
In it the failing mortal course
Shine still to greet redemption's morn.
Loving grace, o! gloriouse light
That winter night to us bestowed.
Sparks of love; divine insight
The starry skies to man restored.
